The Microscope Depot and TV Personality Tony Danza Collaborate in Classroom Makeover Project at Intermediate School

Auberry, CA. - 5/10/2006 — The Microscope Depot proudly announced today its collaboration with national talk show host Tony Danza and his School Makeover Program by donating several thousand dollars worth of microscopes and related equipment to New York Intermediate School IS 171. The famous celebrity has been involved with several classroom makeovers for need-based schools, and is well known for his passion and philanthropic efforts in this area. The Microscope Depot’s President, Ron Odell comments, “when we were contacted by the show’s producer about this project we jumped at the opportunity to participate. We believe there are few areas as important as investing in our children’s future by enhancing their education.” Show producer Lawrence Alitowski noted this particular school is dear to Tony Danza’s heart as the celebrity is a former student of IS 171. The Tony Danza Show featuring the classroom makeover of IS 171 is scheduled to air on May 15th 2006.

The Microscope Depot’s donation included 21 separate microscopes, such as those used in biology and field work, plus a teacher’s station with video output enabling the entire class to see the microscopic specimen together. Odell noted “this classroom will be very well equipped to explore the exciting world of inner space.” In addition to the equipment donated, accessories were included such as prepared slides showing various diseases and processes like cellular mitosis. “We also included some of the more interesting examples like tuberculosis and pneumonia because we’ve found actually seeing these well known diseases tend to peak children’s interest in biology” said Odell.
